When it comes to our kids, many of us feel as though we are caught in something of a catch 22 situation at the moment. On the one hand, we understand the need for as much time to be spent with our child as possible, in these early, formative years.
On the other hand, both parents are often forced to go out to work and earn a wage, just to keep the family's head above water and meet the bills every month. This can mean being forced to turn to the services of a crèche or local playgroups and this is where intensive research should always be undertaken.
When finding the right place for your child, physically go into the venue and speak with the people who run the facility. Make a note of the relevant name badges and keep notes on what you think about the business.
If your child is pre-school, it would be a good idea to see what sort of games and toys are being used in the playgroup. Anything that has any educational worth would always be best for your child; and conversely, useless toys and games that simply waste your child's time should not be endorsed.
Such childcare never, ever comes cheaply. The fees will usurp a considerable amount of the income being brought into your household (often accounting for one parent's whole wage!). With this in mind, you want to make sure that your child is getting the very most out of their playtime and that this is mentally preparing them for their next step up to primary education.
